UAS Work Group

Mission

The UAS (Drones) Work Group is a UC ANR work group with logistical support from IGIS.

As a young and still evolving technology, drones are being using for a variety of purposes in research and extension. The main mission of the UAS Work Group is to connect researchers, staff, and students across programs, offices, and campuses. We aim to facilitate information exchange, identify cross-cutting needs, stay up to date on policy and regulations, share resources for data processing and analysis, support newcomers, and promote safety and risk management.

The UAS Work Group also creates spaces for collaboration, including training activities, research, and proposal writing. In addition to our monthly DroneChat meetup (see below), the work group also runs a Collaborative Tools site and occasionally meets as part of Program Team meetings.

Membership of the UAS Work Group is open to all UC researchers, staff and students. The only requirement is an interest in using drones for research or extension - all levels of experience are welcome! If you're interested in being part of the Work Group, please email Andy Lyons or Sean Hogan.

DroneChat!

DroneChat! is the UAS Work Group's monthly virtual meetup. We meet the 2nd Thursday of the month from 4-5pm on Zoom. Anyone can drop-in to DroneChat, you don't have to be a member of the work group. To get the Zoom info please email Andy Lyons or Sean Hogan.

DroneChat! follows a meetup-style format, where the first 15-30 minutes are updates and a short presentation, followed by open discussion. Below is the schedule of a presenters for upcoming meetings.
