Goal:  To provide an overview of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) technology and regulations to UC Cooperative Extension affiliates, as well as public and private resource professionals.

Workshop Content: This workshop is designed for participants with little to no experience in UAS technology, who are interested exploring practical applications of UAS for a variety of interests. Following a brief lecture on drone technology and regulations, we will go outside to discuss best practices for deploying drones, while conducting a couple demo flights, before getting some hands on experience with flying a popular quad-copter model.  We will then return to the classroom for an exercise that will be introduce you to planning your own flight(s) and processing UAS imagery. To conclude the workshop, we will discuss a wide range of potential scientific and management oriented applications of UAS that may unfold in the near future.
