Goal:  To provide an overview of drone regulations and data processing to UC Cooperative Extension Advisors, Specialists and other UC affiliates, as well as public and private resource professionals.

Workshop Content: This workshop is designed for participants with little to no experience with drone data or GIS software applications. Following a brief lecture on regulations and how to prepare for the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot License test, hands-on exercises will introduce you to the steps you will need to know for processing drone imagery and Lidar data to create your own maps. To conclude the workshop, we will compare the various types of data that can be collected by drones to identify the advantages of each data set for different research and management interests.

This course content is the result of a collaborative effort between the UC ANR IGIS Statewide Program,, the UC Berkeley, Geospatial Innovation Facility (GIF),, the UC Merced, Mechatronics, Embedded Systems and Automation (MESA) Lab,, and Green Valley International,

Audience: Public and private resource professionals as well as UC Cooperative Extension Advisors, Specialists and other UC ANR affiliates.

Requirement: Participants must bring a laptop computer with a recent version of ArcGIS and Pix4D installed on it.

ArcGIS can be obtained for UC ANR work computers free of charge at Click Here

Pix4D - Prior to the workshop, a link to download and install Pix4D will be sent to you.  When you arrive at the workshop we will then temporarily log you into the application using one of our floating site licenses.
